The hits are easily Phone In a Pool, So There, and Capable of Anything. The other songs are a little more mellow, but very well arranged and emotionally captivating. yMusic adds a beautiful touch to Ben’s sound. The only reason I gave this 4 stars is because some of the production on Ben’s voice and piano sounds really dry, like he just woke up and recorded it in his living room for a demo. But that can be good for some people if you like the natural, acoustic sounding music as opposed to the over-produced records like Way To Normal. Bravo, Ben!

Songs are beautiful and elaborate. Ben shows those moments of humor and irreverence he's known for as well as a lot of vulnerability. The concert pieces are a nice addition to the mix.

Music is borderless! I had to buy the full album... 2 Grammys..one for best album and another for sound engineering

I’m a 23-year-old band director in Kentucky. I’ve been to 3 concerts and have all of the albums- if that gives me the least bit of credibility. I also tried to listen to this album as objectively as possible. I read somewhere that Ben was quoted as saying that he has "never been more excited for an album release” and I can only ask, “why?” This isn’t you, Ben. Where’s the heart, soul, and attitude? I understand that you’re going for a different feel here with the addition of a chamber ensemble, but it all feels so forced. With the predictable (amateurish) lyrics and lack of originality, I can’t buy into the thought that this was something that you felt would make a better impression than your past records. Also, the piano concertos I feel we all could have done without… I can appreciate you stepping into this arena and all, but I believe the concertos would be better left to Beethoven and Rachmaninoff. Should I compare you modern “concerto” to these guys? Probably not. However, I wouldn’t put you in the same realm of Philip Glass or Steve Reich, either. This was just something I couldn’t take seriously. Just took up space on my disk. Maybe I’m being a little too pretentious…I’m just disappointed to see what could have been an opportunity turn into random sounds I’ll soon forget.

The album is beautifully arranged and has the introspective lyrics I love. Ben has been and still is my favorite musician to listen to. The creativity never ceases.

I've been a Ben Folds fan since Ben started making music, and this album blows them all away. The musicality is absolutely astounding, but he's retained his earnest and quirky lyrics and incredible storytelling ability. I figured the early releases (Capable of Anything and Phone in a Pool) would be the best tracks on the album, but honestly, it's impossible to choose. The album is cohesive, but each track is a standalone masterpiece. And yeah...even F10-D-A. If this were the only music I were allowed to listen to the rest of my life, I think I'd be okay with that.

Perfect timing for the autumn months to come. I have a special Ben Folds playlist that I only listen to when the leaves begin to fall. Like a fine wine or a perfectly aged cheese- a delicacy.
