Keeps getting better
By Mr Zippyquick
I liked the song the first time I heard it but thought perhaps nothing great. I then caught myself singing it out of the blue the next day. And the next and the next. I guess they call that "catchy". Amazing the simple joy I get from a simple song. Well done!
Sounds like the same crap that was on there last album. It's hard to believe this is the same band that put out Achtung Baby. I guess when you get old, fat, and rich your inspiration goes too.
This is a refreshing effort
I find it amusing that some people who critique this band complain that at times they sound like Coldplay. I ask you, who does Coldplay mold themselves after?? It's no secret at all.
U2 have to be one of the most highly analyzed bands of all time when it comes to their new releases. These guys to continue to put out solid efforts, but never get the response that they are probably seeking because a lot of listeners want another Joshua Tree. I agree, some of their last couple records have been lacking in areas where the band is usually recognized for it's song crafting genius that puts the listener on another planet. U2 has a hard time topping U2. But I'm optimistic for this new record, and I think from this opening single, the catchy pop rock song that it is, is a refreshing effort.
Chorus needs a jolt
The Verses are there but then it kills the momentum at the chorus. Seems like it slows down and focuses on Bono vs just being an all out rocker

U2 (or Apple) doesn't even think it's worth selling at full price.
If the U2 from the 80's heard this crap they would roll over in their graves.
Almost as bad as Get On Your Boots
I really hope there's better songs on the full album.
Sounds just like the last 3 albums =boring.
U2 fan and another sad day!
Expand your voice, make thunderous song, like yelling at God (child to parent) with Edge playing a sonic sound , Larry beating away on drum and Adam (not laying back) but leaning the hell into the bass, just a thought.
Put yourself in Dante's place, write song from that's point view and somehow apply to today's World.

I definitely like this song and bought it right away. It does sound like Coldplay...... it's the best song they've released in awhile. Once you create such a phenomenal album as "The Joshua Tree", how can it be topped? Even U2 knew it couldn't be done........
