Gone Today but He Lives on Forever
Sad news that Joe Cocker, at age 70, has passed away today. Of all his albums, I think this one is the most complete . . . not a bad sogn on it, despite the iTunes (who writes these anyway) review. Several of his very best performances in a row including "Don't Forget Me", "You Are So Beautiful", It's a Sin", "Performance", and perhaps best of all "Guilty". Clearly Mad Dogs and Englishmen is a must own but I have to rate this one right behind it. We'll miss you, Joe.
If only Joe Cocker had continued to record albums like this full of heart, full love and full of blues. Somewhere along the way he got Rod Stewart disease. Those who only know him from his 80's crap would be well-served to sit down and listen to this fine, fine album. It does have a couple of clunkers but it's best songs rank with the greatest songs ever recorded. Oh, what could have been.
This is the album that got me hooked as a life-long Joe Cocker fan--with the deep, beautiful, soulful tone of his voice and rhythms. I remember exactly where I was when I first heard "You Are So Beautiful" and the lesser-known "Performance." The record, "Performance" was playing as everyone exited the auditorium at the end of a dance recital that I attended. I immediately recognized the voice and was so struck by the amazing voice tone and soulfulness of the song, that I stopped and waited until the song was over before leaving. I could write volumes about the other songs on the album as well, i.e. Guilty, I Can Stand..., The Moon..., It's a Sin...., and all.

Anyone who hasn't listened to Joe Cocker has missed out one some of the best blues/rock of all time. The best live concert I've ever been to was Joe Cocker.
One of the finest pieces of recorded music.

I got itunes a year ago and was disappointed not to find this album. I used to own the tape and it was on my daily listening musts. The tape eventually wore out, but the next day I found another at a truckstop in Georgia. That was four years ago.
Last year I wrote a letter to itunes about this album with now success. This was followed by four more letters over the course of a year, and today I logged on to find my wishes had come true.
If you are a Cocker Fan you must own this album. If you are new to Cocker START HERE!!!
